Of course, lying in bed without a care in the world is undoubtedly the best feeling in the world. But sometimes we can’t help but feel guilty about the amount of life we waste just sitting there and doing nothing. So, here are 17 ways you could enjoy but still benefit from a lazy day at home.

1- Read a good book

Not everyday of your life is going to be a one hell of a rambunctious evening and that’s awesome, because on a mellow day, you get to hibernate in bed with a good book. A lazy day in bed is your chance to lose yourself between the pages of an interesting book; reading is both beneficial and enjoyable. If you’re at a loss at which book you should pick up next, this might be helpful.

2- Binge-watch a show

A day at home won’t be complete without plowing through episode after episode of an addicting show, whether new or old. There are so many good television shows perfect for a cozy night in. And of course, binge watching a show goes hand in hand with ordering tons of delicious take out food.

3- Watch inspiring videos

We all get stuck in a rut sometimes and feel so lost as to what our next move in life should be. These are speeches that will inspire you to believe in yourself and will give you the push forward you so desperately need.

4- Crafting

The challenge of picking up a new skill or finding a new hobby is highly uplifting. Coldplay said it forever ago, “you’ll never know if you never try”. This applies to everything in life including hobbies and trivialities. There are so many crafts and hobbies out there and you will never know what you’re good at unless you try them out. Pinterest is so full of crafting ideas that will leave you confounded as to which one you should try first.

5- Cleaning out your closet

Tossing out everything that is questionable and outdated from your closet will save you a lot of frustration over not knowing what to wear and tracking down your clothes every morning. This could also include cleaning out all of the accumulated junk in your purses and your drawers. Get everything in your bedroom in pristine order so you would feel more organized and more energetic. You will even find some things that you’d forgotten about and your mood will highly escalate. For motivation, use Unfilth Your Habitat app as it challenges you to clean your place from 5 to 20 minute intervals while it shames, guilts and offends you to keep you going.

6- Journaling

Whether you have the ability to write or not, getting your thoughts out on paper will help you reflect on your life’s events and will make you feel ten times lighter. And if you have no clue as to where you should begin, you could use the help of writing prompts.

7- Download Duolingo and learn a new language

DuoLingo is the perfect opportunity for you to learn any new language of your choosing. It’s fun, quick and easily accessible. You can either download the app on your phone or visit the website on your computer. DuoLingo lets you choose a daily goal so you have the option of choosing between 5, 10, 15 or 20 minutes a day.

8- Try a new recipe

Maybe instead of ordering delicious take-out while binge watching a new series, you could search for recipes online and put your cooking skills to the test. It doesn’t have to be something big if you’re new to the kitchen, but it’ll always taste better if you did it yourself.

9- Write a to-do list for the week

Nothing is more satisfying than being able to check something off a list. Take some time off your day to plan the rest of your week. Your mind won’t feel as boggled and you’ll find yourself more able to relax as you’ll keep all your worries to the minimum by devising a schedule and a time plan!

10- Light workout

We all know the benefits of working out so I won’t begin stating the obvious. But just because it’s a lazy day doesn’t mean you can’t go crazy and work out for a brief 30 minutes. You’ll feel great afterwards and even more ready to do more activities.

11- Listen to new music

It’s great to make checklists, organize your wardrobe and learn a new language. But, it’s equally great to make some YOU time. Take some time to browse for new music, because we all get bored of our music library at one point or another. New music will always come in handy.

12- Check on FB if it’s someone’s birthday and give them a call

Our lives are getting so busy and with all the noise, we often forget to keep in touch with old friends and acquaintances. If it’s someone’s birthday, give them a genuine happy birthday call and if it’s not, call a friend you haven’t talked to for a while and catch up.

13- Create playlists that fit every one of your moods

Spotify will come in handy if you’re looking for playlists that are already made up. But, in my opinion, it’s always best to do this manually. You can name the playlists whatever you want, make them personal and put together a killer list of jams that will fit every one of your moods.

14- Try out some natural face masks and hair remedies

Pamper yourself a little and take care of your skin and hair. Homemade facial masks will moisturize your skin and leave it looking and feeling softer. And why not give your hair a little boost too?

15- Take a bubble bath

Now pamper yourself a little more and go the whole nine yards. Light candles, make yourself something to drink, pour in some bath oil into the bathtub, slip in, stretch out, soak for a while and forget about the outside world. You deserve this, because when was the last time you treated yourself for no reason at all? If you’re an anxious person who just can’t lie there doing nothing, bring a book with you.

16- Take a trip down memory lane and look at old pictures

Nostalgia is good sometimes. Gather old photo albums and scroll through old pictures on your computer and reminisce about the good times. It’ll make you thankful for a lot of happy moments in your life. You can even gather all the best photos for future “Throwback Thursdays”.

17- Do yoga (or try it out)

You don’t need to have a yoga mat to practice yoga. All you need is some floor space and a blanket. Start with a basic yoga session which will help you practice mindfulness, increase your flexibility and improve your concentration.

Now cancel the word boredom from your dictionary, because there could be no such thing when there isn’t enough time to do all the things we want!
