It’s quite common for us to hear weird and bizarre stories and cases resulting from one simple matter: similarity of names. Well, welcome to Egypt’s lala land.

But for a four-year old to be sentenced to 25 years of jail, that’s beyond the impossible for even us -the Egyptians- to believe.

Among the defendants in the Fayoum incident that dates two years back, was someone named Ahmed Mansour Korany Shararah. He was charged of carrying out acts of sabotage and destruction.

For some unknown reasons, his son’s name – which is also Ahmed – came up in the investigations. Things got tangled and twisted and suddenly the accusations turned to the son, and the father was sent free!

There is only one tiny problem; the son is not even four years old yet!

So if we do the math, we will discover that the boy was two years old at the time of the incident! Howa ah el tefel el masry sha2y w 3afrit, but sabotage and destruction? Even Superman wouldn’t be able to pull that off while he was still two!

Where the hell are we?! This is way past any judicial confusion that has ever happened!! Can’t you see the error of your ways? Do you really need papers or proofs to believe that you have made a big fat mistake? What about…. common sense?

The child didn’t go to jail, but he is sentenced in absentia! Some will ask then where is the problem? Well, life isn’t a piece of cake in Egypt, and having a record won’t make it any easier.

It’s not the first nor the last time that this kind of case occurs, also in 2012 another kid called Mohamed Salama, who was four years old was sentenced to a month of prison and two thousand pounds as a fine for beating an 18 years old guy! How logical.
