One of the perks of each new generation is that it introduces us to new faces who might have a successful career. We picked five young Egyptian actors and actresses who we think actually have potential in pursuing an acting career.
1. Laila Fawzy
This fresh-faced beauty was named after her great aunt, the beautiful 50’s actress Laila Fawzy. Following her namesake’s footsteps, Laila wishes to continue acting. Her first role was in last year’s Ramadan TV series “El Excellence” alongside Ahmed Ezz and her next role is in the movie “3onsor el-Rabe3” coming out this month. This young girl is definitely going to have a successful acting career because of her determination and the support she gets from everyone around her.
2. Mohamed El-Sharnouby
This multi-talented young star cannot only act, he can sing too. Sharnouby starred in more than 12 movies/series in just the last few years. He started in the series “Id Amina” alongside Yousra and “El Safa7” alongside Hany Salama. But roles like Obayd in “El 3ahd” and Prince Tawfik in “Saraya Abdeen 2” are what made him famous. In addition to his traditional acting career, he acted in the movie “HIV” to raise awareness of HIV in Egypt, which was released in 2014 on youtube. This young star is going to make it big because he’s always working on new projects.
3. Ahmed Malek
Malek got his first role in the “Ayamna El Helwa” series and then a small role in the movie “Mafish Fayda.” Later on he impressed everyone in the series “El Gama3a” where he appeared as the young Hassan el Banna, in “Ma3 Sabk El Esrar,” and in “Hekayet Hayah” where he played a troubled young teenager alongside Ghada Abdelrazek. But his best performances that you shouldn’t miss were in the series “Hekayet Hayah” and the movie “El Gezira 2.” Malek’s many successful roles have proved that he’s definitely here to stay.
4. Sally Hammad
Sally is a young bubbly actress and TV presenter. She has presented many TV shows including the comedy show “Welad 80×90,” which is a comedy show about all things 80’s and 90’s presented in a funny way. Her most recognizable role is definitely in the movie “Banat el 3am.”You might also recognize her in the series “Taht el Saytara” in the AA meeting and in the series “Haret el Yahood” as Dalal, the young black haired girl working at Shikorell with Menna Shalaby. Sally may have taken predominantly small roles but her acting skills have proven that she’s going to have a bright future.
5. Jamila Awad
Jamila plays Hania in the Ramadan TV series “Taht el Saytara,” the shocking, troubled young girl who ran away from home that has everyone talking. Jamila comes from a family of actors and actresses; her grandfather is the famous comedian Mohamed Awad and her father is Adel Awad the director. Her mother, Randa Ali, was also an actress in the 80’s-90’s. If Jamila continues acting she will definitely follow in her family’s footsteps and become successful.
