Let’s face it; breakups aren’t easy. You can either get through it by hitting the gym, going on a series of meaningless dates, or you can do it the old fashioned way with a tub of Baskin Robbins ice-cream and a ton of movies that are guaranteed to cure any broken heart. But don’t take my word for it, check all these films out!

1- (500) Days of Summer

This movie is your literal guidebook on how to deal with lost love. You go into this movie thinking it’s a romance, and you come out with the knowledge that it’s a film about growth and realizing when you need to move on even when your relationship worked well.

2- Annie Hallannie-hall-poster

In this film, Woody Allen finds out that Annie Hall and him aren’t meant for each other, despite all his efforts to keep their relationship going. Just because you get along with someone doesn’t mean you’re meant to be.

3- Blue Valentineblue-valentine-movie-poster-2010-1020708078

Young love is unaware of all the trials and troubles of getting old and trying to stay together. In Blue Valentine, you get a glimpse of what it’s like when people fall in love and get married young. By the end of it, you understand that forever is a long time, and just because it worked today, doesn’t mean it will work forever.

4- Amélie7329.resized

Amélie is a great example of what it’s like to enjoy time alone and how you can find love in everything else around you, not just in the usual places. There is a love story here, but it’s not at the forefront of the film.

5- High Fidelityhf

This is probably one of the coolest films out there. It’s really interesting because John Cusak actually addresses viewers directly and explores his past relationships and why they failed. In his walk down memory lane, he finds out who he really cares about and how much he’s changed as a person. Plus the soundtrack is dope!

6- The HolidayHoliday,-The_1

A story of two single women who house swap to discover more about themselves and get over their awful breakups. On their house swapping adventure, they meet new people who help them rediscover love in the unlikeliest of places.

7- He’s Just Not That into You hesjustnotthatintoyou-final-poster-full

If you haven’t watched this movie yet, then you’re obviously missing out. This film is the bible of all breakup movies. Through this film, you’ll understand why the guy you like never called back and how to deal with that cheater ex.

If these movies don’t help you move on, I don’t know what will!
