After a long argument over where to spend a dull winter afternoon, my friends suggested trying Abu Ali Café and restaurant at Hilton Zamalek. It’s not a very spacious café but it’s quite warm and cozy with its bright colorful walls and exquisite oriental atmosphere. Upon our arrival, we were greeted by a welcoming and friendly waiter who escorted us to our table..  We were famished and immediately agreed it was best to share several oriental appetizers after checking out the wide selection on the menu; we went forthe Chicken Liver, Oriental Sausages, Sambousak, Kobeiba, Hummus, and Shawerma. All appetizers were served with freshly baked hot bread; everything tasted so fresh and delicious!!

As soon as we finished eating, we ordered ‘SHISHA’ from a wide assortment of tobacco flavours to cater to every taste.. Nothing felt better than chitchatting, playing ‘Tawla’, smoking Shisha, drinking afternoon tea and having heavenly desserts such as Om Ali, Rice Pudding, and Mehalabeya with dear friends. The service was delightfully quick and the prices were very reasonable. Abu Ali café and restaurant will probably become one of our favorite hang-out spots in Cairo from now on; the good news is it’s open daily from 11 AM-1 AM !!
