On Wednesday October 3rd, an inspiring 14 year old named Reem Ashraf Fawzy started her 55 hour scuba diving challenge where she’s supposed to be living a normal life under the sea; eating, sleeping, and even reading!

Reem’s goal was to reportedly break the world record of the 38 year old Australian Cristi Quil who spent 51 hours, 25 minutes underwater in California, and was holding the longest open saltwater dive record by a woman, until just an hour ago.

So, while you’re reading this, our little Egyptian pride will be just getting out of the waters of Sharm El Sheikh’s Red Sea after spending 55 hours down there.

Reem stayed underwater for 55 hours which is going to include her name in The Guinness Book of World Records.

Therefore, Reem is now officially the youngest Egyptian champion to ever break that record!

It’s worth mentioning that in 2014, another Egyptian, Ahmed Gabr who was 42 then, made us proud by setting the Guinness World Record for the deepest scuba dive (332.35 meters).

Isn’t that BEYOND exciting? We can’t help but feel so proud of Reem already! We wish her all the best; keep making us proud young champion by trying hard and reaching your goals!
