Since the beginning of human history, rivalry has always been there, whether it’s over titles, love, war, or the severest of them all: business. One of the biggest business rivalries is between McDonald’s and Burger King. They’ve always been competing on who’s better than who, and we always sit and wait for a new campaign that disses the other.

Burger King just did that, in the most unexpected way. Ever. They launched a whole website inviting McDonald’s, publicly, to join them and have a day of peace by having a collaborative sandwich called “The McWhopper” – a mix of the McDonald’s Big Mac, and Burger King’s Whopper.

While usually these deals are made in private, Burger King made sure that everyone saw it, and had everyone talking, even before McDonald’s themselves saw it with the subtle quote of “No pressure, MCD’s” along the lines.

Minds were blown, and everyone one the internet made their own McWhopper sandwiches and posted them online. It became more of a meme, with everyone waiting in anticipation for McDonald’s reply.

Realistically, we all know it’s a publicity stunt by Burger King, and some might think it’s a cheap shot, and no one was expecting McDonald’s to collaborate. The plot twist is, Burger King admitted just that. They said we’re not expecting anything from McDonalds and we don’t even care for a peace day.

This might make you think that McDonald’s reply would be something along the lines of “Sure King, we’re on board!” But McDonald’s fell for the trap, and gave the most ridiculous reply ever!

MCDONALDS

Everyone, even the ones against Burger King’s approach, are on Burger King’s side. The PR campaign really gave McDonald’s a slap on the face. Will McDonald’s give up, or will they come back with a reply? We’ll wait and see! In the meantime, make your own McWhopper at home, and enjoy!
