Energy – we all use that word almost every day. We often say it in phrases like “I don’t have enough energy”, “This takes up all of my energy” or “He’s sucking energy from me.” It comes out so naturally, yet seldom are we aware what it actually means.
Stemming from the Greek word ‘enérgeia’, the word energy describes a state of being active, the ability to be active or simply the life force that runs through us. When it comes to the latter, many theories are backed by scientific facts that everything around and in us is energy. Former NASA physicist and world-renowned healer, Dr. Barbara Brennan, once stated that “Anything that happens in the physical body will happen in the pattern of the energy fields first.” There is an unified energy field which surrounds our body, called aura. It correlates with our mental, emotional and physical condition.
The Three Parts We’re Made of And their Effect
Physical:
The central nervous system follows orders through the command of our mind.
Mental:
The mind steers our nervous system, our emotions and most of our physical functions.
Emotional:
The emotions which we deny or suppress stay in our bodies, in fact, in our organs, tissues, muscles and glands.
Hence, when this energetic field is in alignment, the body will follow suit. If not, diseases will develop. By enhancing the energy flow of the body, the self-healing abilities of the body get activated. A holistic approach to healing, where mental, emotional and physical aspects of the ailment are included, should therefore be considered.
Energy therapies including yoga, meditation or energy healing come in all kinds of variations, forms and names such as Reiki, Pranic Healing, Qigong, Hatha Yoga, Transcendental Meditation, Acupuncture and Shiatsu, just to name a few. They’re all methods that both benefit the mental, emotional and physical well-being and support the self healing processes of the human body. With energy healing, you even kill three birds with one stone.
