What if the boss decides to quit? The boss who actually hired you, calls you up for a meeting and says that he’ll be leaving the company in the coming few days, huh?!!

Take a good look and observe your colleagues’ attitudes towards this new messed up situation. It can get quite reckless, and you get to encounter the following types of co-workers:

  • The Super Hero “ Shagee3 El Cima” :

You know him/her, the employee who works round the clock 24/7. He’s the one who wants to genuinely save the day for a salary raise, a good appraisal, or more likely, for a promotion to become the next boss!!

  • The Unappreciated “ El Ma3’loob 3ala 2amro”:

The employee who hardly does his own work, yet wants to prove that he/she could do even a better job without the boss. They play the role of being unappreciated oppressed member of staff, when all the credit goes to the “Super Hero”. They daydream about their chance to shine under the spotlight when the “Super Hero” quits (if he ever does), so that they could seize the golden opportunity and assume his role.

  • The Indifferent “Elli 3amel 3abeet”:

Then comes the one who plays it cool and shows total indifference to what’s going on around him/her. Who stayed? Who left? It doesn’t matter as long as the new status quo doesn’t jeopardize his own job anytime soon.

  • The Gossip “El 3asfora”:

El 3asfora

The person we usually call “ the bird”, “El 3asfora” is the one who goes sniffing around, trying to collect and register all the latest gossip from his colleagues so that he could get some personal benefit out of it. This might include gaining the Super Hero’s trust to see if he can book his place under the spotlight.

  • The Argumentative “ Mido Mashakel”

The one who will constantly give you a headache; that person never stops arguing about anything when it comes to work. He probably thinks he could turn it all around now that the boss is gone, and eventually gets fired before he can totally figure it out.

  • The Micro Entrepreneur “ El Masla7angy”

That’s the smart one who thinks of having his own business and becoming his own boss, thinking that the current business will shut down and fall apart.

  • The Lost “ El Tayeh”:

When the situation gets more chaotic, and more trouble kicks in, the company may decide to hire an external consultant to take a firm grip on the organization and get things back on track. That’s usually a good thing, unless you end up with the “lost” guy, the one who has no clue about the company’s nature of business and doesn’t even know how to run it.
