Time to fess up; my type is “funny”: that guy you see simply being himself and cracking up everyone else around him in the process. I’ve discovered that I’m not the only one- funny guys can really make many of us fall for them, one carefree joke at a time.

Take, for example, how Ryan Gosling was ten times more attractive in “Crazy Stupid Love” than in “The Notebook” simply because of his bold humour (and lack of cheesiness). Enough fan girl-ing over celebrities who are unaware of my existence though, and let’s get back to business.

Why are funnier guys also more attractive? Here are some reasons why the jokester might be the keeper:

There’s Never a Dull Moment With Him:

He’s always up for a fun time and his carefree attitude makes awkward moments non-existent.  You’ll never have to sit there wondering “so what should I say next..?” because his nonchalant nature makes conversation flow effortlessly.

You Can Easily Be Your Goofy Self Around Him:

I don’t know about you, but I’m a walking, talking collection of constant embarrassing moments and so a guy with a funny bone will easily welcome that side of me. You don’t have to pretend to be one of the cool kids- you can just be yourself!

Drama? What Drama?

Always taking things lightly, drama is not a given with naturally humorous guys. He’ll probably not even know how to hold grudges and when the going gets rough, he will avoid exaggerations and unneeded dramatic actions.

Confidence is His Middle Name:

Who doesn’t find a little confidence attractive? A guy with an outspoken sense of humour can surely and confidently have the whole room laughing in a heartbeat.

He Can Make Hard Times Easier:

When life’s throwing sour lemons at you at an accelerating speed, having someone with a sense of humour by your side can make dreary situations all the more bearable.

Even Science Has Proved Their Charisma (And Disney Clearly Agrees):

According to several studies, women’s brains respond to humour with greater activity, in the reward-related areas, more than men. Evolution-wise, this means that women view funny men, with an ability to make them laugh, as more eligible partners.
