On Thursday 12th CJC was happy to host Massar Egbari‘s private album release party. Special guest performances and surprises where in store for those lucky enough to be on the list. We made it to the list! We witnessed one of the most beautiful nights at the one and only Cairo Jazz Club. The night was a hit in every possible way. The entrance was well organized and the place was booming with celebrities like Yousra EL Louzy, CAIROKEE (Amir Eid, Tamer Hashem), Ahmed Bahaa (Sharmoofers Vocalist) and others. Massar Egbary was on stage at 11:00 PM and performed a number of their blissful songs; Ana Hawet, Mersal le Habebty. There is no need to talk about the new album because it was stunningly perfect “EARGASM”.

The album includes 11 songs and marks the first album in Egypt to be produced by an indie band. Tou’aa We Te’oum is available now in stores in Egypt and the Arab world.

Massar Egbary was formed in 2005, and since their early beginnings the band sang for change and the right of Egyptians to enjoy better life through their songs that focus on social issues, such as unemployment, traffic congestion, poverty, and illegal construction. The band has also performed several covers for prolific composer Sayed Darwish using a mix of rock and jazz infused with oriental music.

Members of Massar Egbari are Hany El Dakkak, guitarist and lead singer of the band, Ayman Massoud, keyboards and piano, Mahmoud Siam, guitarist, Ahmed Hafez, bassist and Tamer Atallah (aka Toussy) drummer.

The band performed in a number of international and regional festivals in the Arab world, Africa, Europe and USA. In April 2011, UNESCO awarded Massar Egbari the title of Young Artist for Intercultural Dialogue between the Arab and Western Worlds in a ceremony held at the organization’s headquarters in Paris. The band has appeared in two movies as themselves: in Hawi in 2010, and it is worth knowing that the movie carries the same name as one of their songs, and Michrophone, a film about independent music bands in Egypt.
