News
One of the most challenging tasks nowadays seems to be finding out whether the news you’re reading is true or false. Separating life from fiction can be difficult in these very interesting times we’re living in. Below are some steps to help you maneuver your way around news in Egypt:

1- Does it SOUND realistic?

That’s probably the only question you’ll need to ask yourself to figure out if a piece of news is true or not, but in Egypt, it’s only the first step in a much longer process.woah

2- Is it on social media?

Probably not the best source either, but the trick here is to see how many people are talking about it, even better, what they are saying. This can give you an idea of how the news is being perceived.giphy-2

3- Check the comments!

If the news you’re reading is up on a news website, always check the comments. This is a great indication of whether it’s a hoax or a true event. Just having the article published on a legit website isn’t enough!jLZz4Na

4- Google it.

Desperate times call for desperate measures. Googling things is the easiest way to get to the most amount of information in the shortest amount of time. Google is your friend.world-cup-2014-20-4921531587100672-hp

5- Check “Da Begad” Facebook page.

The page known for debunking myths and widely inaccurate stories. Apparently, we’ve suffered from false information for so long that someone actually decided to dedicate their time to create a page that sets the truth free! Check them out here.149241_178570552294219_239628102_n

6- Ask your parents!

Last but not least, ask your parents. They probably have a better hold on things than you do anyway and are more likely to actually watch the news! Screen Shot 2016-04-20 at 12.17.54 AM

To be fair though, no matter what you do, you can never be too sure about the validity or accuracy of what you’re reading on the interweb!
