Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past week, you’ve probably heard the words “New York Fashion Week” in passing. Fashion Week is when the who’s who of the fashion industry convene and put on the most spectacular runway shows, twice a year. New York usually takes the lead, with Paris, London, Berlin and Milan following suit.
Now the thing is, Fashion Week is usually an exciting time for the fashion industry, mainly because you get to scope out the following seasons’ trends, from colours schemes to makeup trends, it’s all there. The world’s eyes are usually on the ever so stunning runways, judging each and every look, from Marc Jacobs to Badgley Mischka
We went ahead and rounded up our favourite looks to walk down the runway NYFW S/S 15.
Badgley Mischka
Known for their sleek clean lines, Badgley Mischka did not disappoint at NYFW. The S/S ’15 collection consisted of muted neutral tones, and soft silhouettes.
Bibhu Mohapatra
The Bibhu Mohapatra S/S ’15 collection brought in a lot of dark, and geometric aspects. The Indian American designer created a visually stunning collection, sure to be seen on many a starlet come Spring/Summer 2015. In keeping with the dark theme, models strutted down in the runway in deep aubergine toned lipstick.
Michael Kors
One of Egypt’s favourite designers, Michael Kors, kept it chic and simple. Opting for the beautiful sillohuettes that made the 60’s known for it’s fashion sense. The garments sent down the runway had a vintage air to them, but were infused with modern notes that kept them both relevant, and fresh.
Naeem Khan
It’s no wonder Michelle Obama has a lover affair with Naeem Khan, since she’s spotted in his designs very frequently. The Indian American designer has an affinity for intricately beautiful designs, which has taken him farther than most designers. His designs often frequent red carpets, and with good reason! His S/S ’15 collection is infused with beautifully soft pieces and smashingly clean lines.
Oscar de la Renta
A hollywood favorite, Oscar de la Renta sent stunning garment after stunning garment down his NYFW show. Taking a cue from the ever-so-dainty silouhettes of the 50’s and 60’s, de la Renta has managed to produce one of the best collections this season. His collection is guaranteed to frequent the red carpet Spring/Summer 2015.
Pamella Roland
Pamella Roland’s S/S ’15 collection is as beautiful as any, consisting of both soft and hard colours. The dresses sent down the runway were both dainty, as well as edgy. Putting a twist on already stunning trends, Roland has managed to bring the best of both worlds this season.
Sophie Theallet
Sophie Theallet’s beautiful S/S ’15 collection is adorned in beautifully intricate patterns that speak for themselves. The collection is as strong as ever, with models sent down the runway donning colourful pieces, pieces that didn’t overpower the models themselves. It takes skill to be able to use powerful patterns thoughtfully.
