Egyptian Member of Parliament, Reyad Abd El Sattar Hassan, has proposed a draft outlining a law that requires a license for people to use social media networking sites and that includes any form of social communication programmes such as Facebook, Instagram, Viber, Whatsapp, etc. 

According to the draft, this law is being put in place in order to protect the values and traditions of our culture, national security and citizens’ lives.

The probability of such a law being implemented is highly unlikely, but the interesting thing to consider is that such a law is something that is being seriously contemplated and considered by the Parliament in the first place!
