Remember when we used to visit Ras Shitan in Sinai to flee the city in an attempt to find some peace and serenity? Remember when all we used to hear was the sound of sea waves splashing and birds humming? Remember how we used to escape the torturous traffic and loud parties and head off to Ras Shitan? Why am I speaking in the past? I’ll tell you why.

1- The Road

I know, I know. It’s a long ass drive anyway, but the beautiful scenery used to take that off our minds and help us enjoy every mile. Now the road maintenance has ruined that for us, not to mention the enormous amount of checkpoints. It used to take us less than 5 hours to get there; it can now take up to 7 hours… you do the math!

2- Main Hut

Once we finally make it there after the long drive that takes FORVER, all we think of is eating and relaxing in the main hut; the place where everyone gathers to eat, chit chat, hang out and maybe even calmly play some music. Now the main hut is like the place where people come and show off how high or drunk they are, as loud as they possibly can. No, we’re not interested in what happened inside the hut and no, you shouldn’t be bragging about the details!

3- Tanning while listening to loud music

We never had trouble with anyone who likes tanning, even if he or she decided to tan naked… Sinai has no rules!

The only problem now is loud music. Soiler Alert: the tan doesn’t look better in the company of annoyingly loud music and no, it doesn’t make you hotter or cooler… this is NOT Gouna for crying out loud!

4- Loud Conversation

For people who are new at this: every single word, every comment and every time you try to show off your vocals inside your hut, WE HEAR YOU!

No one is taking all that time and effort to get away from the city just to show up and find that the city has made it there before them. It’s okay that you want to hear your music and have boring conversations with your friends but what is not okay is forcing it upon the whole camp. A little piece of advice: if you don’t know how to stay quiet, Sharm isn’t that far you know.
