We’ve been told hundreds of ghost stories,  seen many horror movies, and heard endless stories about haunted places and objects, but what if those stories are real? What if you bought something that turned out to be haunted and ruined your life or maybe even killed you and your family? Sadly, these “haunted possessions” are said to do exactly that to its owners, or even viewers. Whether you’re a skeptic or a believer, these stories are true. Or at least said to be true.

The Lemb Statue

The Lemb Statue, aka “The Goddess of Death”, is a statue made from limestone that was discovered in 1878 in Lempa, Cyprus. The item dates back to 3500 BC. It’s a statue of a goddess, but no one knows for sure which one. It was first owned by Lord Elphont. Within 6 years, he had lost all his possessions and all his family members passed away for unknown reasons. It was later owned by Ivor Manucci and Lord Thompson-Noel, and guess what? They lost all their possessions and family members within 6 years as well. Its fourth owner, Sir Alan Biverbrook, lost all his possessions as well and died later, his wife and daughter too. His 2 sons, however, lived and decided to donate the statue to the Royal Scottish Museum in Edinburgh, where it remains today. Shortly after it was placed in the museum, the  head of security and the janitor reponsible for cleaning the statue passed away. The museum decided to display it under safe glass and no one touched it ever since.

Anna Baker’s Wedding Dress

wedding dress

Found at the infamous Baker Mansion, it’s a haunted wedding dress. The house was owned by Elias Baker, a filthy rich man who controlled his family and was an overall “evil man”.  His daughter, Anna Baker, fell in love with a local steel worker and wished to marry him. After planning the wedding and buying the dress, her father forbid her from marrying him because he came from a lower social class. Anna locked herself up at her house till she was old and eventually died heartbroken. The sad story doesn’t end there.  Over the years, the house turned into a museum and Anna’s wedding dress is still hanging in her closet where she had placed it. People who visit the museum say that they see the dress dancing alone on full moons. It’s also said that whoever saw the dress moving either gets divorced, if married, or never gets married, if single. Believers say it’s Anna’s ghost that haunts the dress, wears it and dances with it since she never got to wear it.

“The Hands Resist Him” Painting

In the year 2000, an anonymous seller listed a 1972 painting by famous painter Bill Stoneham. The painting sold to the actor John Marley, then to a Californian couple, then to the ebay seller who sold it with a warning note. According to the couple who owned it, the figures in the painting moved at night and sometimes disappeared. To make things worse, they said the boy in the painting actually walked around the room where the painting was hung. It stills gets worse! They say that who ever looked at the painting for more than 10 seconds feels sick, and kids who look at it start screaming in terror. The painting is now owned by paranormal investigators.

Annabelle the doll

The doll was bought as a gift to a nurse called Donna in the 70s. Donna’s roommate started to notice the doll moving. Then both of them noticed doors closing and opening on their own, and found random notes at their home with “help us” written on them. They decided to hire a medium who claimed that the doll had the spirit of 7 year old “Annabelle Higgins”. Eventually, they realized that a girl with that name used to live in the same house and was killed there. After the doll started “attacking” and “burning” people, they hired another medium and he claimed that is was possessed by a demon. The doll was then taken to the Warren Occult Museum with a sign saying “WARNING: Positively Do Not Open”; it’s still there till now and surrounded by security.
