Reality TV gets a bad rep, and yes, it’s not for good reason but that tends to cause people to dismiss good TV just because it’s categorized as reality. As a HUGE reality TV fan myself, here is your guide to good reality TV:

1- Survivor

Survivor has been on TV for the past 15 years, making it the longest running reality show around by a long shot! It’s been going on for 32 seasons! Yes, you heard that right 32. If CBS is still willing to invest in a show for this long, it must be good. And it is. You get treated to 45 minutes of entertaining physical challenges, smart strategy talk and beautiful island scenery. It takes you to a different exotic place every season and introduces you to interesting and dynamic casts. It also helps that the show is a competition and keeps you on edge with each episode!

The 18 castaways are set to compete in SURVIVOR: PHILIPPINES, when the twenty-fifth installment of the Emmy Award-winning reality series premiers with a special 90-minute edition, Wednesday, September 19 (8:00 - 9:30 PM ET / PT) on the CBS Television Network. 2- The Amazing Race

Another CBS classic, The Amazing Race has also been around for a while. It’s a race around the world where the contestants have to complete tasks that are relevant to each country they visit on their way to a million dollars. What’s great about the show is you get to learn a lot about different cultures through the challenges they do and the time they spend there while rooting for your favorite team to do well. It’s an exciting and visually stunning show for sure!ย The most recent season included social media celebrities that you may know; you might want to check that one out first.

3- Big Brother

BIG BROTHER will return for its 11th installment on Thursday, July 9 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT), on the CBS Television Network. Following the premiere, BIG BROTHER will be broadcast three nights weekly, beginning Sunday, July 12 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT), Tuesday, July 14 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) and the LIVE eviction show, hosted by Julie Chen, beginning Thursday, July 16 (8:00-9:00 PM, live ET/delayed PT). BIG BROTHER follows a group of people living together in a house outfitted with dozens of cameras and microphones recording their every move, 24 hours a day. One by one, the Houseguests will vote each other out of the house. At the end of three months, the last remaining Houseguest will receive the Grand Prize of $500,000.

The Big Brother game can get complicated sometimes but that’s what makes it interesting. It’s essentially a social experiment where a bunch of people are forced to live together in a house locked away from the outside world and vote each other off each week. There are plenty of international versions of the show and even celebrity spin offs. The 18thย season of Big Brother US is set to premier on the 22nd of June; the show lasts the entire summer and will definitely be something to entertain you!

4- Project Runway

The show we all know and love. Project Runway has been every girl’s obsession at one point and for good reason! The show doesn’t only show you good fashion, it gives you compelling characters. It also helps you bring out the critic inside of you where you pretend you’re fashion gurus who know what’s in and what’s not!

5- The Block

This Australian sweetheart of a show is for all you new home owners who are looking for inspiration and advice about design. You watch contestants renovate old crappy houses and create master pieces. By the end of the season, you are so invested in these couples that you wish they could ALL win the grand prize!

6- Ex On The Beach

Now, this is more closely related to why people don’t like reality TV but the show is still entertaining as hell! The concept is a dating show that brings your exs in while you’re trying to start dating other people. This obviously causes a lot of drama and cursing and fun stuff of the sort. It’s a British show, so you will be enjoying the lovely accent and learning British slang (assuming you understand it).

7- Master Chefย

Another show with plenty of international versions and spin offs, Master Chef is one of those shows youย shouldn’tย watch on an empty stomach. The food this show produces is going to make you want to open your own restaurant and be a chef yourself!
P.S. That is a bad idea..

Give these lovely shows a try; they willย definitely give you an entire summer’s worth of entertainment. They areย definitelyย binge worthy!
