Hair trends are all kinds of crazy these days, but this one is perhaps the craziest yet and guess what? I’m completely in love with it. Remember sand art? You always see vendors selling bottles of it all over Sinai, well yeah now you can do that to you HAIR *gasp*.

Okay, yeah I understand that rainbow-coloured hair isn’t exactly ground-breaking, but wait up this is multi-coloured ombre hair- it literally takes vibrantly hued hair to a whole new level. The hair colouring technique was invented by hair stylist Rebecca Taylor and it basically incorporates bright-coloured dye, colour-layering and the ombre colouring technique. The result? Bright, shiny colours that blend ever so smoothly into each other.

I know what you’re probably wondering about: won’t the coloured strands stain each other and ruin the whole effect? Won’t the strong colours transfer? The brand which produces the dye used by Rebecca, Pravana, has released a a line of hair dye known as Vivids Locked-In which will be available in July, which does exactly that, it locks the colour in the hair strands.

The hair trend has spread like wild, untamed fire all over social media websites, with it completely taking over Pinterest. This is anything but surprising seeing as how I literally want to go dye my hair right THIS SECOND and I’m not even a huge fan of hair dyeing in general, but how can I not fall head over heels for this trend, though?

What now? Well, allow me to extend a general call to hair salons in Egypt to start providing Sand Art hair as part of their hair treatments. We deserve this kind of prettiness to roam around the traffic-jammed, pollution-infested streets of Egypt.

Here’s quite an awe-inspiring video of how the “Sand Art” look is achieved, in which Rebecca herself demonstrates the whole process:
