AĀ little bit of affirmation every now and then can add a lot to a person’s self esteem. We don’t really show how much it actually means to us, but it’s true that the smallest Ā of compliments do make our days! So make sure you give out those in doses to the people you love. If you truly love someone, you’d want to shower them with things that make them happy.Ā

1- Compliment them on how they lookpenguin

We all end up settlingĀ for the “you’re beautiful/pretty/cute/nice”. These are amazing to be heard if the person feels like you actually mean it. But maybe you can tryĀ using different words like “You look lovely” or “sexy/attractive” for instance! And don’t be afraid to be specific; it means you’re paying attention and that’s a bonus! Try saying things likeĀ “You smell really nice” or “I love your outfit today” and “Your hair looks really amazing” or evenĀ “You’re the prettiest one in the room tonight”. Maybe you shouldn’t overdo it, because it mightĀ soundĀ meaningless.

2- On their BrainsĀ christina

Don’t ever forget to compliment your loved one on their brains. They’d appreciate it if you let them know that that’s one of the reasons you love them. It’s always nice to hear a “You’re so smart”, but you could also say itĀ subtly like “I can only trust you with this work so please help me with it”, “No one can do it as good as you”.Ā You can also say “I really admire the way you think”.

3- Compliment them on what they doĀ amazing

Let the people you love know that you appreciate everything they do, whether it’s their work, the way they raise theirĀ children or the way they do life in general. Tell them things like: “You’re an inspiration” or “I love how dedicated and strong you are”Ā and “I admireĀ how determined you are”.Ā AlsoĀ definitely tell them: “I’m so proud of you”. That last one is important, without sounding patronising obviously. But, it’s good to let your partner/friend know that you’re happy for them and admire what they do!

4- On who they are as a personrose

Tell them what you like about their attributes. Acknowledge their qualities, like “You’re so kind and sweet”Ā or “No one makes me laugh as much as you do” and “I love who you are with all your weird quirks and craziness” or “The world needs more people like you”.

5- Remind them about how you feellooove

Compliments come with feelings. I’m sure everyone would be flattered to listen to how those they love feel about them. So express your feelings with an:Ā “I love you” and “I’m so lucky to have you”Ā orĀ whatever your heart feels! Don’t forget to remind them of these things every now and then; we all need to listen to them.

Of course, you need to mean everything you say. Don’t just say them because you want to make the person happy. Say them at the right time when you really feel and mean it. Now go and show your friends and partners some love!Ā
