Always wondering where to have a decent seafood meal in town? Well, CAIROEATS just found you the perfect spot! We love seafood and after trying almost all the seafood places around Cairo, we can safely claim that no place can fulfill your sea food craving like Samakmak on Ahmed Oraby Street in Mohandissen! Honestly, the place is not as fancy as you’d like it to be, but the food more than makes up for that. The parking is usually very easy since the vicinity is not really crowded.
Even if you’re not a typical seafood lover, you’ll still have a great time at Samakmak’s because of their scrumptious food variety! Like most seafood places, they offer a salad tray at the very beginning, where you can pick and choose whatever your heart desires! We totally recommend the ‘Tomeya’ because it’s to die for!
To start off your meal, we highly recommend their fried calamari and shrimps; they’re so tender on the inside, and perfectly crispy and well buttered on the outside! Our favorite dish on the menu, the ‘Shrimps Butterfly’, is the house specialty; grilled shrimps, cut up through the middle, open like a butterfly and covered in their rich lemon butter sauce! The sauce is so good; you will literally want to add it on all the other seafood you ordered!
We know that some people prefer shrimps, calamari and crabs to fish, but a seafood meal is never complete without fish! Our favorite is the fried Sole Fish (samak moussa), which is one of the best catches in the sea and the easiest to eat if you don’t want to get your hands greasy. It’s a flavorsome definite must-have! Another great option is the Sea Bream Fish (denise), best served with oil and lemon; it’s by far one of the greatest fish you can ever have! For those who aren’t huge fish fans, opt for the ‘Tagen Béchamel’ with calamari and shrimps; it’s simply exquisite! We also highly recommend their ‘Lobster Butterfly’ if it’s available; we were sadly disappointed that we didn’t get to try it during our visit!
There is no better way to end your seafood experience other than feasting on Samakmak’s grilled meaty crabs! We honestly think that Samakmak is one of the best seafood restaurants in town, and if you haven’t tried it yet, you definitely should because it’s not your typical ordinary seafood restaurant!
