We’re all guilty of giving our smart phones more love than any inanimate object ever deserves.  The problem arises though when you get too consumed with your phone that you forget to actually revel in the experiences you’re supposed to be living and enjoying. You’re either too busy recording moments than making memories, or texting your life away.

I’ve seen people at concerts hold their phones during the entire performance and watch the stage through their screens. They don’t dance, sing along or do the goofy ‘wave’, but are rather there to solely concentrate on recording the whole show on their phones.

The people who travel to the world’s most beautiful destinations and are too busy texting away to notice the exquisiteness around them are literally an insult to both humanity and the whole phenomenon of evolution. You’ve packed up your stuff, booked your ticket and planned for this whole trip to… text? If I walk into an art gallery, museum or even an antiquated café and find someone deliberately texting like their life depends on it and ignoring the works of art around them, I might actually just go there and bash their phones into a billion pieces.

If we happen to be out together and you spend the whole entire time span of the outing texting rather than being there not just physically, but also mentally, I will probably just avoid hanging out with you any time soon. We both did not leave our houses to take our phones out for a stroll.

It’s not that I’m against using your phones, texting or taking lots of pictures; I just find it baffling that people are willing to trade truly having fun and living in the moment for using a gadget that they can literally use at any other time and is at their disposal 24/7. Yes, we’re all probably way too attached to our smart phones, but maybe it’s about time we recognized just how unhealthy this attachment truly is.
