Itโ€™s the weekend, and we all have a little more time on our hands now that summer has come into full swing. If youโ€™re looking for a good show to binge watch, we strongly recommend Outlander!

1. Feminism

Outlanderย is a show primarily focused on time travel. The heroine, Claire Randall, travels all the way back to 1700’s Scotland in 1940. Women at the time were subject to many different kinds of subjugation and ill treatment from men. And when Claire comes, she tries to change all that with her new age ideals. People are forced to allow her into political spheres, just because she’s a huge power player.images

2. Partnership

Claire meets Jaimie, and through working together, they overcome a lot of obstacles. But Claire and Jaimie’s relationship is unlike any male-female relationship in the 1700’s. Jaimie never tries to control Claire and always tries to see things from her point of view. He’s not afraid to let her take the helm because he doesn’t believe it emasculates him but rather strengthens their bond.Outlander-112-Ours by caitrionabalfe tumblr

3. History

Naturally because this show is about time travel, history and historical events play a huge role in the show. The costumes, places and battles have all happened. Butย Outlander paints a visual picture of that.200_4s

4. Accents

Because the series is set in Scotland, Scottish accents are pretty prevalent in the show. And if you don’t already know they’ve been voted as one of the sexiest accents out there!200_s
