Being in a relationship with a foreign boyfriend hasย both its prosย and cons. We’ve noticed howย it’s becoming a bit of a trend lately. It might be because more girls are now traveling to study abroad, and parents are becoming more open to the idea of their daughters traveling on their own. We’ve done some research (we love research), and asked girls what it’s like being in a relationship with a foreigner. Here’s what they had to say:
1. It’s Never Boring!ย
“Because we come from different cultures, we both have different interests and mentalities so we’re always trying out different things!”
2. Never Run Out Of Things To Talk Aboutย
“We always have interesting conversations and stories to tell each other.”
3. Learning About Different Thingsย
“My boyfriend is European so I’m always learning about European history, norms and traditions…and since we got together, I’ve been reading more about the Egyptian history too in order toย come off as intellectual haha.”
4. He’s Not Controlling
“I’ve always had a problem with the idea of relationships since they always felt likeย an imprisonment whereย another male controlling figure treats me like a helpless/brainless being…This however is never the case with my foreign boyfriend; he never tells me what to wear/think/do.”
ย 5. He’s More Calmย
“The problem with most Egyptian guys is that they tend to loose their temper pretty fast and don’t see anything wrong with shouting at their partners…This is not the case with foreigners (especially Europeans). He’s very calm and if I’ve done something wrong, he actually sits and TALKS to me.”
6. Cute Jealousyย
“You know the society is pretty messed up when a movie like ‘Taymor w Shafika’ becomesย most girls’ “relationship goals”. Yes, it’s cute when your boyfriend gets jealous, but this is just sick. One of the things I like most about him is that whenย he gets jealous, it’s the cute not psycho kind of jealousy!…He says things like “If you’re sticking to that smoking hot dress, don’t blame me if I break some necks tonight…””
