Graduation ceremonies are joyous, albeit emotional events. Whether you’re the one graduating or have relatives or friends who have managed to make it out of school or university, you’ll probably attend a handful of these in your lifetime. What all graduation ceremonies seem to have in common is a signature group of people, whom you always count on being there, doing their own thing. Here are some of the most iconic ones I always spot at every graduation:

The Criers:

Those are incredibly overridden with emotions and have streams of tears running down their flushed cheeks. You’ll find them constantly asking for tissues and sobbing their way through the 2-hour event. More often that not, you’ll find them being comforted by someone who’s either crying along or holding it together.

The Cheerers:

Bursting with energy and gifted with super loud whistling abilities, those ones are ON A ROLL! They’re jumping, clapping, whistling, laughing and screaming all at the same time! I honestly don’t know what they feed on to stay this hyper in such a mundane event, but it’s pure magical.

The Huggers:

Those are also emotional, but their emotions are transferred into physical actions: HUGS AND KISSES AND TALZEE2 all day long! The minute their graduating loved one steps off the stage, they rampage them with a slew of affectionate embraces and crush their spinal cord with bear hugs! You’ll also find them taking about a billion pictures while they suffocate the poor graduate.

The Bored-Out-Of-Their-Mind Ones:

They’re either dozing off or texting away, but forget about them paying attention to the actual event. I don’t blame them to be completely honest. Commencements are always just way too monotonous for anyone to handle with their eyes completely wide open and their minds alert.

The Posers:

They’re here to take lots of pictures because they happen to be dressed to the nines and every one of their Instagram followers needs to appreciate this fact. Who cares about the people graduating? Their outfits, hair and makeup are all on point and need to be photographed from every angle #ootd.
