Tired of the same old healthy meals? Check out these items and incorporate them into your diet for a refreshed healthy-eating lifestyle. Mix things up, healthy eating shouldn’t be boring!

1) Oatmeal

Don’t underestimate how delicious oats and skimmed milk can be, this low fat grain is high in fiber and keeps you full for a long time. It’s perfect for breakfast. Add a teaspoon of honey and cut up your favorite fruit for added sweetness and color. Crush a couple of unsalted almonds for a crunchy texture. Yummy!

2) Fereek

This green wheat is incredibly low in fat and contains a small amount of calories. It serves as a great substitute for rice or as a side dish to your protein.

3) Vegetable soup

Tired of always eating salad? Here’s another way for you to get the nutrition you need from veggies. Cut up your favorite vegetables and make a soup! It’s a great meal in this cold weather.

4) Grilled Salmon

We all resort to grilled chicken when trying to eat healthy. Change it up, once in a while. Grilled salmon is loaded with omega-3 fatty acids, minerals and vitamins. High in protein and fairly low in calories, it’s a great substitute to the traditional grilled chicken.

5) Quinoa

This healthy whole grain can be eaten in so many ways: plain- as a substitute for rice, stuffed in vegetables, sprinkled on salad or even for breakfast with a boiled egg. It contains the perfect balance of protein necessary for human nutrition and has little fat. It’s not available in many supermarkets in Egypt, but you can find it in Gourmet.

6) Guacamole

Mash half an avocado and add onion cubes, salt, pepper and a lot of lime for a delicious and different snack, dip or side dish.

7) Lemon mint water

When dieting or trying to be healthy, water is your best friend. Some of us have a hard time drinking lots of it because it lacks taste. Add lemon/lime and mint to give it flavor and increase your water intake. It’s a great source of vitamins and antioxidants. It’s also great for your skin!
