Most times, when we think of travel, we’re more focused on international travel rather than domestic. Oftentimes, we’re not really aware of what is in front of us, and we never really ask ourselves why tourists come here, while we’re desperate for any opportunity to get out of the country. And while there are certain places in Egypt that have been getting a lot of hype with Cairenes and foreigners alike, I would venture to say that Port Said is arguably one of the most underrated cities in Egypt. And here’s why:
1- Port Fouad Villas
Because this street looks like one in a typical European city, but is actually in Port Fouad! I definitely wouldn’t mind living there.
2-The Lighthouse
Because where else in Egypt can you find a multi-coloured light house?
3- Gomhoria Street
Still can’t believe I’m seeing a main street in Egypt without traffic. And the speed bumps that won’t ruin your car!
4- Suez Canal Authority Building
I’m pretty sure the only other building that looks like this on a water front is all the way in Venice! Luckily, we don’t have to travel to Italy to see this.
5- Central Perk Café
Rejoice Friend’s fans. You can now get a cup of coffee in the iconic Central Perk Café where all your lovable characters used to hang out!
6- The Corniche
Who wouldn’t love walking by that water front?
7- Port Said Cathedrals
The architecture is amazing. I’ll bet the interior is equally beautiful as the exterior.
I don’t know about you, but I know where I’m heading for spring break!
