It’s 2021, so we’re guessing everyone by now has somewhat of a clear idea about what makes a good relationship and what doesn’t. But what comes next? When you find that really “good” partner, you really want them to stick around. So, here are some things you should feel are totally normal in every healthy relationship!
Respectfully Disagreeing
It seems obvious, but some people just freak out at the first sign of disagreement. It’s totally normal you guys, as long as you’re keeping things civil!
Having Bad Days
Can we please normalize this already? Me having a bad day does not mean I’m also having a bad relationship day. We’re individuals who get to experience life on our own, even when we have a partner. No need to put extra pressure on the relationship.
Asking For Clarity & Reassurance
Why do we get so insecure when we feel the need for someone to remind us how much they love us or want us? It’s probably out of fear of being called “needy” or “clingy”, but you should rise above all that and just ask for it!
Anxiety Fits
Generally, mental health should be more incorporated into our daily life. It’s only normal and it’s nothing to be ashamed of.
Having Second Thoughts
Not necessarily over the relationship itself, but perhaps over smaller things. Don’t feel guilty, a change of heart doesn’t mean the relationship is not working!
Having Different Interests
It’s not a bad thing to be having fun, separately. If anything, it means that no one is being codependent!
Engaging In Meaningful Convos
In a good relationship, you should feel free to express your worst fears, guilts and thoughts. It’s a basic human right that shouldn’t be denied by anyone.
Holding Each other Accountable
You’re going to make mistakes, both of you. And that’s fine, as long as you’re okay with owning up to them and talking openly about why they happened. Holding someone accountable is not an attack on them as a person, this should be very clear.
