Everyone loves listening to music. I mean, after all, it’s a universal language! But that language isn’t always clear and when you really listen to a song you realize that what sounds nice in a melody doesn’t really make sense most of the time. Here are all the songs we realized have no meaning whatsoever!

1- Wannabe- Spice Girlstumblr_m8o4qzDZlT1qejlczo1_500

This song should be a close-shut case, “If you wanna be my lover/ You gotta get with my friends”. But the real question here is not that part; it’s the part where the Spice Girls go: “I wanna, I wanna, I wanna, I wanna, I wanna really really really wanna zigazag ah“.Which begs the question, what is a zigazig?

2- I Am the Walrus- The Beatlesgiphy

Really, any song on the Beatles The Magic Mystery Tour album is weird. But this one in particular is a little high on the “What the hell is this?!” scale. The song is just full of lyrics like these: “I am the eggman/They are the egg men /I am the walrus/ Goo goo g’ joob” . So, if you’re not already wondering what Goo goo g’joob is, you’re probably wondering what drug The Beatles were on while writing this.

3- Royals- Lordemaxresdefault

When this song came out, I was obsessed with it! Looking back, I realize that it makes no sense, especially in the part where Lorde sings: But every song’s like: Gold teethGrey Goose/ Tripping in the bathroom. And I have no idea what she’s talking about to this day.

4- Starships- Nicki Minajrecite-rm9dye

The intro to this song just shows us that basic meaning and sense were sacrificed for rhyme scheme. Who owns the Patrón? Is it me? Is it Nicki? What’s the point of adding “each” at the end of that sentence? What is happening here?!!

5- Drops of Jupiter- Traindefault

I like Train’s songs a lot, but when it comes to their lyrics, they leave me confused a whole lot of the time. This song probably exemplifies the questions I find myself asking when I listen to them… (Yes, this is an actual song lyric): “Can you imagine no love, pride, deep-fried chicken?”

6- Skinny Love- Birdy recite-130an2x

Birdy’s song is one that holds a lot of imagery and metaphors but the metaphor that really makes me wonder is the part where she says: “Suckle on the hope in light brassieres” because why would one suckle on hope? And why would one look for it in a brassiere? Hmmm?

7- Beez in the Trap- Nicki Minaj samuel-jackson-impersonates-nicki-minaj-4

Nicki Minaj has excelled in lyrics that are misunderstood. Why are there bees? Why are they in a trap? Will we ever know? Probably not!

There are many more songs out there that we just don’t get, but it’s only because the music is so good that we allow them to exist!
