A proud moment unfolds today as adidas, in collaboration with acclaimed Egyptian designer
Abdelrahman Galal (professionally known as Abdu Galal), reveals the new adidas F50 Elite
signature colourway for Mohamed Salah, widely celebrated as the Egyptian King.
Working from adidas headquarters in Germany, Abdu Galal has channeled his deep-rooted
Egyptian heritage and lifelong passion for football into this design, marking his second major
collaboration on a boot for Salah. The result is a powerful fusion of ancient cultural symbolism
and cutting-edge football performance.
In his own words from a recent Instagram post:
“Most kings are chosen. A rare few are earned as an Egyptian and a football fan I’ve always hoped to connect these two worlds in a single product story. And who better to represent that connection than the Egyptian King himself.”
Inspired by the mythology of the Curse of the Pharaohs, the boot brings ancient Egypt vividly to
the modern pitch.
It features a crisp white base drawn from royal textiles, enhanced by metallic
gold accents that evoke the treasures of pharaohs and the glowing hues of desert sunsets.
Intricate hieroglyphs translating “Mo Salah” and “Egyptian King” adorn the upper, heels,
outsoles, and insoles, forming a captivating all-over motif infused with mystery and strength.
“We start with Mo’s facts: defenders fall. Goalkeepers fail. Records break. Titles won. What
really happens when you face the Egyptian King?” Galal reflected. The colour palette highlights
signature metallic gold, contrasting structural elements, and an iridescent outsole that shifts
dynamically with light and movement.
Timed perfectly ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations, this project holds special significance for
Galal. “Designing a second boot for Mo, especially right before AFCON, feels just as surreal as
the first, another career-defining moment I’ll treasure forever. Grateful to be part of this story,
and deeply grateful to the team who brought it to life.”
