Closed-up cracked asphalt after earthquake.

I’m sure you’re always bombarded on Facebook with shocking and depressing news of horrendous accidents taking place on the roads of Egypt. I’m also sure you’ve wondered what the cause is behind this rise in these car accidents.

Well, today the President of the Roads and Bridges Authority Adel Turk finally came out to answer these questions, but instead of putting the blame on the bad roads, he claimed that the majority of car accidents in Egypt are caused by the drivers of the vehicles. Well…. What can we say?

Our favourite part of the President’s claims though is his solution to the problem: “the more damaged the streets are, the less car accidents will occur.” He added that this is because “damaged and destroyed roads force the vehicle driver to slow down his speed and in turn the number of accidents decreases.”

We initially thought this was some kind of joke, but it really isn’t. So instead of investing in safe roads and safety speed bums, we should actually be destroying the streets and roads of Cairo to ensure the safety of our family and friends… I’m just gonna leave it at that and say..
