Many have told us that long-distance relationships don’t work. Many have said that we’re being unrealistic, and that it’s all going to tragically end in a heartbreak. But, it doesn’t have to be this way. Long distance can actually be healthy to a couple’s relationship. I mean, sometimes “distance really does make the heart grow fonder”. So, here’s a list of all the perks of doing the long distance:

1-Effective Communicationcome

Since you guys won’t be able to be together all the time, your relationship will count on those Skype and/or Facebook Messenger calls. There won’t be much space for small talk and messing around, things will get serious. Your relationship will get a lot more intimate than if you guys were in the same city. Being separated by distance will make you want to tell your significant other about all the things you truly feel and how you miss him/her a lot.

2-You learn to be independent

One thing that’s definitely great about long distance relationships, it’s that you’ll know that you’re not with that person out of attachment or just because you’re used to having them around. Since you’re both forced to live separately, you’ll both be independent individuals who don’t specifically need each other, but who want each other.

3-The relationship doesn’t rely on physicality cats

Physicality isn’t the basis of your relationship, and that’s definitely something you should be happy about. You’re together out of love and not mere attraction.

4-You appreciate more the time that you do spend togetherbab

And when you’re both finally together, it’s amazing. Every mundane thing that seemed boring, becomes exciting. Going grocery shopping together? That’s definitely something you’re eager to do! Spending a night in, doing absolutely nothing? That sounds like a dream come true. Since you guys don’t get to be together a lot, when you finally are around each other, you’re happy to basically do anything, and you’ll appreciate their presence even more.

5-There’s always something to look forward toeager

Another thing that’s exciting about long distance, it’s the looking-forward-to. When you’re both apart, you’ll always have something to look forward to. Whether that is your planned Skype/Facebook Messenger call at night, or the trip you both planned in a month, there’s always going to be something ahead that you’re excited to do.

6-Knowing that if you survive the distance, your relationship can survive anythingmiles

If you’re doing the long distance, then you’ve probably been bombarded by many “Oh, good luck with that!” and “That’s never going to work”. Almost everyone around you will advise you against it. But, if you regardlessly go through with it, and make it through, you’ll know that your relationship is golden, and can go through pretty much anything.

7-You travel more often!

That’s one of my favourites! Perk of long distance relationships? Travelling a lot more often than if you were both in the same city. You’ll go visit him a lot, he’ll come visit you a lot, and then you’ll both plan to see each other in different countries. So, it’s a chance to travel with your favourite person.

So don’t be too negative about long distance! There are actually a lot of perks to that, and if you make it through, it means you can make it through anything.
