It’s a thought that comes to mind every time we hear breaking news stories from around the world or read about more political tension in the region: Are we really the most unlucky generation? Or does every generation feel like it’s the one going through the roughest time?
It’s true that each period in history has had its own challenges. Wars, economic crises, social unrest, all are part of the past. But what we’re going through today feels different. It feels nonstop. One hit after another, with barely time to recover in between.
We’ve seen bird flu, swine flu, and then the huge shock of the COVID-19 pandemic. That alone changed everything; how we live, work, study, and even how we see the world. And just when we thought things would settle down, we’re back to constant political and economic uncertainty, both locally and regionally.
With every new crisis, prices go up, job security drops, and daily life becomes more stressful. This generation is living with a heavy mix of health fears, financial pressure, and uncertainty about the future. And while some might say we’re being too dramatic, these are real issues, not exaggerations.
This was supposed to be the time for young people to build their future, enjoy their freedom, and shape their path. Instead, many feel like they’re stuck just trying to survive, not move forward.
But to be fair, this generation is also strong. It’s learning to adapt. People are finding new ways to work, earn, and create. They’re more connected than ever, more aware, and more willing to speak up. That’s something to be proud of.
So… are we the most unlucky generation? Maybe we are. But we’re also one of the most creative, flexible, and brave ones. And that counts for something.
