On Saturday, September 15th, three kidney patients have passed away while twelve others went into a comma after a dialysis session, at Dirb Negm Central Hospital in Sharqia.
Six of the patients are currently being treated in El Zagazig University Hospital, while the remaining six have been transported to the intensive care unit.
It’s worth mentioning that Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouli has placed Minister of Health Dr. Hala Zayed in charge of the incident; as he urged her to quickly investigate it and act upon it.
Dr. Hala Zayed has taken the decision to shut down the dialysis unit at the hospital until further notice; after all the investigations have been carried out and the cause of death revealed by the inquiry commission she has formed; in addition to the public prosecution’s final decision. Also, the rest of the kidney patients have been transferred to nearby hospitals for the dialysis sessions.
In a related context, Dr. Mamdouh Ghorab, El Sharqia’s Governor, has referred the case to the Attorney General in order to take all the necessary legal actions against the defaulters; stressing that they won’t tolerate any incompetencies.
