Many new shows came out during the holidays, but one particular show that caught social media’s attention BIG TIME is Bridgerton. We thought we’d give it a go and let you know what we think!

(No Spoilers)

Pride and Prejudice Similarities

Okay, we all heard that. The show and Jane Austen’s novel turned to a movie have a lot in common. And honestly, it’s not entirely untrue. We have a middle-class family with potential young socialites competing before the queen to land an aristocratic marriage.

The Daphne and the Duke of Hastings encounters are pretty similar to that of Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy’s as well. Yeah and the whole wild but tamed spirits and love-hate tension are there too.

Performances

Contrary to our presumptions, perfection. We didn’t hate nor did we cringe at the sight of any character. And for a somewhat erotic period piece, things weren’t cheesy or anything. Just sheer fun and courting games!

Gossip Girl

Well, Netflix did take Gossip Girl off the platform but hey, they gave us the next best thing. In Bridgerton, Julie Andrews is an omniscient narrator just like in Gossip Girl and things get very juicy; we must say!

We tried to keep it subtle and simple for those who haven’t watched it yet. If you’re into scandalous romantic dramas, this is definitely the show for you.
