Movies and dinner, a time honoured tradition in the dating world. It’s probably the number 1 thing couples do. But, what if I told you that the cinema is the worst possible place to go on a date? Sounds crazy, right? But, hear me out! There are a lot of reasons why the cinema is a crummy dating spot especially in Egypt; people need to wake up and realise that.
1. You’re not going to talk on your date
Think about it. You’re going to be watching the film and you can’t really talk to your date, because the cinema is not a talking place. This is the absolute worst if you’re going on a first date with someone. The date will start off with you being strangers and end with you still being strangers!
2. If the movie is good, you won’t even pay attention to them
You can’t go to a date to watch a movie like Interstellar or Inception where your focus is of the utmost importance! If you do end up doing that, you’re probably not going to pay attention to them.
3. If the movie is bad, sleep is inevitable
And if the movie is bad enough, I guarantee one of you will fall asleep halfway through. But what do you expect? It’s a darkened theatre after all.
4. People reacting audibly
Another consequence of theatres in Egypt. People talk loudly and react loudly to everything; you can hear full on conversations.
5. No one gives you your space
With a population of over 90 million, no wonder our theatres are packed.
6. Everyone around you will tell you to be quiet
If on the off chance you do decide to give your date the time of day and actually talk to them, everyone will “shhhh!” you and tell you to shut up!
7. Or silently judge you if you decide to cuddle
So you want to get comfy with your partner, but a dozen pair of eyes are silently judging you while you two snuggle! As soon as you purchase that movie ticket, say bye bye to anything called personal space.
8. The seats won’t allow you to cuddle either
But then again, it’s not like you could actually cuddle because there’s an arm rest separating you both.
9. Kids movies are just a horrific experience altogether
Going to a kids movie is like asking someone to go to a kindergarten full of screaming children as a date. Best to avoid this harrowing experience altogether.
