What made you interested in cooking and food?

When you have a passion for something, you will want to master it. I wanted to master the art of cooking and create recipes of my own. I’m still learning until today and have goals I want to reach within the food and beverage field.

When and how did you start your career in cooking?

My cooking career started when I first moved to Switzerland in 2008 to study Culinary Arts and Hospitality and I have been cooking since then.

When did you decide to open up your own restaurant and why?

I decided to open my own restaurant S. Lounge in 2013. After I completed an intensive training in Paris, I moved back to Egypt and wanted to take the risk and challenge of running my own kitchen and experiment with my menu freely.

Tell us more about S. Lounge?

S. Lounge is a casual dinning restaurant and it’s designed in a way to make guests feel like they’re chilling in their own living room but in an outdoor space while getting the services and facilities of a restaurant.

We were the first in Maadi to introduce the pet friendly concept. We just finished renovating the entire place and we will be relaunching our newest menu after the month of Ramadan. It will consist of Mediterranean dishes with amazing varieties for breakfast, all day snacks, lunch and dinner.

Who is your target market?

We are targeting young adults who are interested in a casual dinning venue with good quality products. Our purchasing department only looks for suppliers with grade A quality and our menu is priced accordingly.

What is the one word you can use to describe your restaurant?

Peaceful.

What are your plans for the future?

I have different concepts in mind that I want to introduce; I want to focus more on fine dinning and gourmet cooking. The most important thing is the supply. I want to offer gourmet quality with fair prices, so I’m currently doing my research and getting to know the Egyptian market and available local products to see how to achieve that.
