Emma Watson in ERDEM

Erdem Moralıoğlu celebrates his line’s 10th anniversary this year- yes, it has already been 10 years of luxurious and vibrant creations inspired by the classics of yesterday from this London-based designer.

Erdem, who is of English and Turkish origins, was born in Canada where he studied fashion at the University of Toronto. He has worked with two fashion powerhouses, Vivienne Westwood and Diane von Furstenberg, so it comes as no surprise that the designer is renowned for his feminine yet powerful styles. He created his own label, ERDEM, in London in 2005 and has since been recognized by the British Fashion Council with several awards over the last decade.

The number of awards that have been bestowed upon Moralıoğlu are easily justified when you gloss over his collections. His uncompromising penchant for decadent and luxurious fabrics give his ladylike silhouettes just enough drama to maintain the air of strength and elegance. It is no wonder that starlets of the big screen, like Emma Watson, Keira Knightly and Emma Stone, flock to ERDEM’s designs. He has even dressed the Duchess of Cambridge and is a favourite among the theater and ballet crowds.

ERDEM’s use of rich textures and patterns has breathed new life into classics such as tweed suits, midi dresses and full A-line skirts. Season after season, his designs are reinvented, taking us on a different journey every time- from the wilderness and darkness of Autumn/Winter collections to the jovially embroidered florals of his latest Resort 2016 collection. We cannot wait to see what he has in store for us during London Fashion Week this September, for it is sure to be spectacular.
