Who said men dominated the rap world? Indeed, there are rapย goddesses whoย aren’t afraid to show what they’ve got. They’re the embodiment of lyrical female empowerment and we are nothing but thankful for their contributions to the world of rap especially because they’re slaying the music genre since day one.ย

1- Missy Eliot

In her song ‘Work it’, Missy Elliot tells women: “Ain’t no shame ladies do your thing/ Just make sure you’re ahead of the game”, reminding all ladies to hustle like she did when she won ‘Video of the Year Award’ for this song back in 2003.

2- Kat Dahlia

Kat lets men know that they aren’t the only bread winners and that women have to work and do things all on their own without the help of a man. Her song ‘Gangsta’ shows that being on your own is a sign of strength not weakness. Not to mention the amount of rave reviews she got when ‘Gangsta’ came out at 25 million views!

3- Lil’ Kim

Letting you know that “No matter what people say, you’ve got it goin’ on!” And there’s nothing better than that reassurance. She’s also the only female rapper to have 3 platinum records excluding the ever talented Missy Elliot.

4- Queen Latifah

Before the days when Queen Latifah was on our movie screens, she was smashing the patriarchy with her celebrated song U.N.I.T.Y reminding all women that mistreatment and name calling by men wasn’t okay in 1993 and still isn’t okay today!

5- Nicki Minaj

Say what you will about Nicki Minaj and her multi colored attire in the earlier part of the decade, she is a boss ass b**** and she lets everyone know it in the remix of this song.

Well ladies, now we know we can dominate the music world if we choose to.
