Who doesn’t love an amazing sushi roll on a chilly night in? With the beginning of winter waltzing in, ditch home delivery and start cooking yourself because sushi is as easy as ever with these 11 steps to making your own delicious, homemade sushi.

ALL YOU NEED ARE THE FOLLOWING INGREDIENTS:

• Fish (whether it is salmon, tuna, crabsticks or whichever you prefer).
• Extra fillings and toppings (according to your preference: avocado, cucumber, cream cheese, caviar)
• Sushi Rice
• Unsalted, Dry Seaweed (known by the name Nori)
• Rice Wine Vinegar
• Sugar
• Salt
• Bamboo Mat
ADDITIONS: Soy Sauce, Teriyaki Sauce, Ginger and Wasabi.
… And you’re good to go!

1. Select two kinds of vegetables and a fish.

2. Place two cups of sushi rice in a rice cooker and keep rinsing until the rice water is clear.

3. Wash the vegetables and place them on a cutting board then cut the vegetables vertically into long, skinny strips.

4. Cut the fish into same vertical strips and make sure they are even in length.

5. Check on rice and when ready, put it on a dish.

6. In a bowl, pour in about two tablespoons of rice vinegar. Do not put extra until you have tried two tablespoons first, then add according to your preference. Then add in pinch of sugar and another of salt.

7. Pour the vinegar, salt and sugar mixture onto the sugar and start mixing with a wooden spoon. Add more rice vinegar for if you want grains of rice to separate easier.

8. Put seaweed layer on the bamboo mat and start spreading the rice on top of it. The rice should be spread evenly in the middle third of the mat so that there would be no holes for the sushi roll not to crumble. Having done that, dampen the end edge of the bamboo mat with rice vinegar so it sticks when you roll it. Add the strips of vegetables and fish onto the rice.

9. Roll the bamboo into a roll using your mat by holding the bottom third in then rolling it up.

10. Cut down the middle of the roll, take each half and place them parallel to each other so that you cut them evenly in a simultaneous pattern.

11. Decorate with extra toppings of your preference (if you want) and serve.
