‘InBETWEEN – a silent sign’ a project for tolerance, intercultural understanding and learning starts this Sunday, 12th of April 2015, 10:00 a.m. at the beautiful Temple of Queen Hatshepsut in Luxor. People from Luxor and the world will gather to send a silent message to the world: We all are human, we share hopes and fears for our lives and for those we love, and we share this world. We come together in the spirit of understanding, tolerance and respect and we come to learn and grow together across nations, religions, borders and socio-cultural divides. We will gather outside the temple dressed in white. In ancient Egypt, white was a symbol for the love of silence, for being connected with the earth and for stability. Internationally it is the colour of piece, of light and hope, all of which is what InBETWEEN stands for.

Photographers Claus Rudolph (Stuttgart / Germany) and Ossama Boshra ( Cairo / Egypt) will take pictures of the gathering, Claus Rudolph in front of the temple and Ossama Boshra from a hot air balloon, wind conditions permitting. Professional photographers will be invited to cover the international InBETWEEN events. All photographies will be presented in an exhibition that will tour all cities participating, with the first exhibition opening in Luxor after the summer. Participants are invited to take selfies and submit them. A selection of the best selfies will also be included in the exhibition. InBETWEEN – a silent sign’ intends to build bridges between Luxor and different countries around the world, to connect people across the borders of nations, religion, tribe or kaste, gender and invididual identity. It will also connect culture and economy, social initiatives and politics.
