The latest “health” trend is getting snake massages! Yup, just when you thought the world couldn’t get any weirder, it did! Started by the Cebu City Zoo in the Philippines’s zoo, the trend is now taking over Asia, and it’s getting quite big, especially in Indonesia. Here’s how it goes – they cover you in snakes and the snakes simply crawl all over you.

These are the incredible pictures of one girl overcoming her phobia of snakes by having a massage with immense Burmese pythons. Sunshine, a 19-year-old college student in Cebu, Philippines, is terrified of snakes and was initially horrified that snake massages even existed. With the help of photographer Ian MacLean, she overcame her fear and lay down for a massage with four Burmese pythons as big as 18 feet in length and with a combined weight of over 250 kilograms. At the Cebu City Zoo, they have 4 pythons, who you could call masseurs, and the 4 of them weight around 250 kg for 15 minutes. So you basically pay money to get 4 pythons to almost kill you! Bear in mind that you don’t have any control over them, which means your life is at risk. Yes, they’re not poisonous, but they could choke you, or even break your ribs. The zoo managers insist that it’s safe, but we tend to think otherwise.

One of the people who got the massage had this to say about his experience: “’I had to lie on my back on a bamboo daybed in the open air. I was briefed on what to do and what not to do during the massage. These instructions are crucial, as you can imagine. They tell you not to blow air on the snake, because this is like being pinched on the bum, apparently. You can’t shout for help as the snake can feel your vibrations and thinks you’re prey or a predator, depending on the environment.”

Now as for the “spa snake treatment,” they’re a bit more safe-ish, emphasis on the “ish.” They also use pythons, but you have the option of using smaller snakes. The 90-minute treatment costs upwards of $40, which is insane if you ask us.

There aren’t really any know beneficial health reasons, but people are already obsessed with the idea. We’ll give it 3 years until it’s a worldwide thing, just like the starving fish that nibble on your feet treatment! We can’t wait till Samuel L. Jackson hears about this.
