Italian luxury car manufacturer Maserati has announced the official re-start of its operations in Egypt. While Maserati continued to support its existing clients with after sales services, vehicle imports and sales operations stopped in 2013. The renewed focus on the market is in line with Maserati’s global growth strategy.
Maserati has grown its worldwide sales to over 30,000 units per annum through entering new markets and new additions to its product portfolio, including the 6 th generation of the Quattroporte, the new Ghibli, and most recently, its first ever luxury SUV – the Maserati Levante. All models are being produced in Maserati’s native Italy.
Maserati will be represented by MM Group with a dealership based in Cairo, which is planned to open in the third quarter of 2016. Dedicated Maserati aftersales service and parts facilities, which are fully in line with Maserati global standards, will also be located on site. All showroom and service personnel will be trained by the official Maserati Training Academy. Until the official opening, clients will be able to get in contact with Maserati at a dedicated pop-up showcase in Cairo’s Fairmont Heliopolis hotel.
The newly appointed Managing Director for Egypt, Mohamed Kandeel, commented on the announcement: “Our re-entry into Egypt is a commitment to our customers as there is a definitive demand for exclusive luxury products, including cars, in the market. We have invested over 650,000 USD into state-of- the-art facilities and are proud to be able to launch the new Ghibli alongside the official opening. The Levante launch will be the next highlight a few months further down the line.”
Amaury La Fonta, Marketing Director of Maserati Middle East, India and Africa, was present at the announcement press conference and shed further light on the Trident brand’s plans: “Egypt is an important market for Maserati. True to our brand values, Maserati Assistant Marketing Manager wo-digit range, which is very exclusive indeed. Owning a Maserati – the experience of its design, performance, craftsmanship and its signature sound – will be like wearing a tailor-made suit in a world of uniforms.”
With the re-entry Maserati officially adds the Maserati Ghibli to its model range. The four-door sports executive sedan is the first E-segment model by the Italian luxury brand. By combining breath-taking design with exceptional handling qualities and outstanding performance, the Ghibli appeals to the heart, the head and the soul making the dream of owning a Maserati more accessible. In line with Maserati’s long tradition of naming cars after winds, the name “Ghibli” originates from hot and dry, dust-bearing desert wind. Both versions, the Ghibli and Ghibli S, feature a twin turbo-charged 3.0-litre V6 engine. With its power output of 410 hp the Ghibli S races to 100 km/h in 5.0 seconds and reaches a top speed of 285 km/h. The Ghibli delivers 330 hp, a top speed of 263 km/h and acceleration of 0 to 100 km/h in 5.6 seconds. The Ghibli S is optionally also available with the Q4 all-wheel drive system.
