Ramadan is the month of rising above; it’s the month of good deeds and helping others. There is no better way to help others in Ramadan other than providing iftar for the fasting less priviliged.

“Mawa2ed Al-Rahman” are charity iftar tables set up throughout the country during the holy month of Ramadan. The beauty of walking down the streets and stumbling upon those tables around every corner is unparalleled.

Mawa’ed Al-Rahman host the needy and less fortunate; those who don’t have the luxury of having their iftar meal at home or may not even have a home.

Some believe that they’re especially organised for the poor, but not necessarily. Mawa’ed Al-Rahman host passers-by who couldn’t make it home in time for iftar due to any reason.

Bringing together people of diverse backgrounds promotes the feeling of equality and solidarity which is the true essence of Ramadan.

Mawa2ed Al-Rahman are supposed to be for helping people who can’t afford to have an iftar meal, not for those who want to be on the media. For the latest Mae’da, coordinated in Alexandria about a week ago, guests had to fill applications to be able to have iftar. They should’ve put up a hotline for reservations as well!! Despite all the chaos which took place, Alexandria managed to set a new Guinness world record for the longest line of tables.

Ramadan will always be the month of reaching out to others, putting a smile on their faces, and restoring their faith in humanity.

Ramadan will always be the month of spreading happiness all around.

Have a blessed Ramadan everyone.
