Social media has given us an inside look on so many people’s lives, whether we know them or not. Some people find this to be the end of their private lives and more importantly the cause to the end of their relationships. But it is definitely possible for your relationships and your social media accounts to co-exist!

Here are a few tips to help you and your relationship out:

1. Stop Being “Single” Online but “In a Relationship” in Real Life:
It’s important to let people know that you are at least involved with someone. Sure the argument “not everyone needs to know about my business” is understandable but let’s get real; you created your account so people can know about your life. We’re not saying everyone needs to know every detail about your relationship but knowing you’re involved with someone will save a lot of confusion and misunderstandings.

2. Don’t Let Your Interactions Get the Better of You
Social Media can feed confidence in many people with the amount of likes, comments, direct messages, etc that they get from their Instagram followers or Facebook friends. They’ll soon start to enjoy the attention and wonder why their partner is not giving them the same amount of praise. If this starts to happen to you… Check yourself! Don’t let that tiny amount of attention someone gives you be the reason for the end of your relationship!tumblr_n2wvsyPxq81qb9pa3o1_500

3. Quit it With the Sneaky Stuff
It’s human nature from people to be curious even if they have no right to be. So when you’re in a relationship, it’s only normal that your significant other will be curious about certain social media interactions. Now we’re not saying you guys have to share everything together but if you find yourself hiding your phone from them and getting nervous of them finding a certain thing out, then you’re doing something wrong. Keep in mind that if you’re acting like you have something to hide, you are going to look guilty to your partner.

4. Keep it Limited
We’re all guilty of spending too much time on social media and not enjoying the human interactions that surround us. So try not to completely neglect your significant other due to your fascination with the social media world.
