Humans Of New York

If you’re reading this then you probably already know that over the past couple of weeks Brandon Stanton, from the very successful Facebook page ‘Humans of New York’, has been touring Egypt and posting beautiful random stories of its people.

Stanton posted various emotional stories about true hardworking Egyptians who’ve had it really hard in life. Some stories were extremely relatable to the entire Egyptian society, while others were just too heartbreaking.

However, two of the stories posted strongly stood out and made everyone feel so emotional, frustrated and tied-handed at the same time as no one had any idea how to help.

One of the stories was about two siblings Hanan and Essam, who help people park their cars as they try to raise money for their school fees, and they also really wanted a bike like the rest of their friends. This is where we were just so close to tears when we learned that Humans of NY inspired Pepsi, which they mentioned in their story, to help them get all geared up for school. Not just that, the Pepsi campaign also got them the bikes they wanted so much; the Humans of NY impact was just so amazing here!

The other Cairo based story that really grabbed our attention, warmed our hearts and made us believe in humanity all over again is about an incredibly resilient single mother, who works as a housekeeper and has to take care of her extremely ill mom as well as pay for for her kids’ education completely and entirely on her own.

The Humans of New York impact strikes again here, because following their talk, Stanton and the HONY Patreon community managed to give the woman $3,000, in order to help her with her difficult situation where she’s stuck between paying her mother’s healthcare bills, as well as her children’s food and education.

How awesome was that from Brandon Stanton and Humans of New York? HONY and Pepsi also sort of proved that humanity is still very much alive!
