Whether a student, a working individual, or even a house wife, stress most of the times knows exactly how to get to us and even sometimes conquer us. Especially if you are living in Cairo, life has become so hectic, traffic and noise has become unbearable, and of course people surrounding us aren’t helping at all because they’re also as stressed as we are.
Some stress can actually be a good thing; it fuels us and pushes us forward in work, relationships, and generally in life. However, when stress becomes a permanent, full time and essential aspect in your life, when you can’t even remember when was the last time you had a decent sleep, then that would be a problem, this is what is called “Chronic stress” .
Chronic Stress can lead to chronic pain, eating disorders, sleeping disorders, high blood pressure, and other serious diseases and it might end up leading to depression and heart disease. Thus, you should start doing something about it. You should start trying these 8 things that will help you handle your stress.
1-Exercise:
As easy as 30 minutes of brisk walking 5 days a week would be enough to loosen up your stress.
2-Meditate
Practicing yoga once a week does wonders.
3- Healthy eating
Needless to say that binge eating and junk food leave you a wreck. On the other hand, having more organic meals like fruits and veggies makes you feel better inside out.
4-Positive thinking
Sometimes it’s hard to overlook all the problems, but, it helps when you start looking at your stressors as challenges rather than threats and you’ll feel the victory once it’s passed and you have solved the challenge. Like for example, when you are sinking in a mountain of endless deadlines accumulating over you, start working on them instead of only whining about them.
5-Time management
It helps when you keep a to-do list all the time; prioritizing all the tasks awaiting you. Besides, when you write things down it automatically gets wiped off your mind making room for the things being done at that time.
6-Stop procrastination (Just do it now!!)
7-Learn to say No and Prioritize.
8-Stop over thinking (It ruins you)
If you live by these eight stress proof rules I guarantee you not a stress-less life, but a healthy life with the right amount and type of stress. And if you need an instant stress relief in this very moment there are also some quick fixes to try:
Listen to music
Sing aloud
Go for a walk
Practice deep breathing for 1 minute
Give a hug (they literally work like magic)
Write down something you are grateful for
Have a warm bath or even better, a bubble bath.
And last but not least, don’t forget to enjoy your life 🙂
