Cape Town, a small city in South Africa, is the place where the magic happens. It’s a city that is not only known for its beautiful beaches and mesmerizing nature, but also for its heritage and history. No wonder it’s an attraction to many celebrities, like Leonardo DiCaprio who makes it a point to visit Cape Town every now and then to enjoy its breathtaking scenery. For a city this beautiful, it’s hard to list all the places you could enjoy in only one post. Here are a few sites that will definitely make you add visiting Cape Town to your bucket list:

Table Mountain

It’s one of Cape Town’s landmarks which will give you a great view of the city and its capturing nature. Most people take the Table Mountain aerial cable-way to get a look at the impressive view. However, I would suggest you take the 2 hour hike to really enjoy the beauty of the steep mountain. For those of you with no experience of trekking before, do it anyway. It will take you a total of one hour and 30 minutes more, if you’re not fit enough. The feeling you get once you reach the top will make the hectic trip worth it!

Cape Town Peninsula

African Penguins

The Cape Peninsula

I’d recommend you book a tour for the Cape Peninsula, where you could enjoy the sites of Table Mountain National park, one of the natural new Seven Wonders of the World. Make sure that the tour takes you through the whole peninsula where you would be able to see the famous Cape of Good and Cape Point, the highest point in Africa, and enjoy the company of beautiful African penguins in Boulders Beach. Before you embark on the journey, make sure you set enough free time for it because it could take the whole day.

Mandela

Indulging in the South African History

If you’re a history fanatic like me, then you should definitely add Robben Island to your hit list of things to visit in Cape Town. You would be able to visit Mandela’s prison cell of 20 years and enjoy tours held by ACTUAL former prisoners. You would never imagine how exhilarating it will feel to listen to the prisoners’ experiences and stories first hand. Trust me, it will leave you asking for more.

Long Street

Long Street

After a long day sunbathing by the beach or trekking mountains, it’s safe to say that everyone looks forward to a nice drink with great music in the background. There is no better place for bars, pubs and clubs than Long Street where you will be able to enjoy different cuisines and music that serve all tastes.

local-market

The Local Market

If you’ve seen Perfect Strangers’ video clip, then you probably know what I’m talking about. The local market in Cape Town is very cheap and full of different commodities and things to buy ranging from wooden masks and drums to handmade bracelets and lockets. Take care though; don’t carry a lot of cash because you’ll probably spend it all 😉

Finally, there is much more to Cape Town than the places mentioned above. The Waterfront where you could simply take a stroll and enjoy the beautiful place, that is a weird mixture of LA and Europe, is not to be missed. And just so you don’t say that I didn’t share everything with you, here’s a precious tip for those who dare to try: DEFINITELY GO FOR THE CROCODILE STEAK BECAUSE IT IS LITERALLY TO DIE FOR!
