Ever heard the quote “If you love someone, set them free?” Yup, that’s what this article is all about. Some of our favourite TV shows must be “set free” by their producers. Some shows are still relatively new and have started off super strong, but never managed to keep their momentum and their fans are starting to hate them. Others have been going on for years, and the audience are beginning to really dislike them; even their jokes are being recycled. Here are a few shows that we absolutely love, but think that it’s high time to put them to rest and get them out of their miseries:

The Simpsons (Since 1989, 27 Seasons)

Topping this list is The Simpsons, a show which has been going on for 26 years (that’s older than everyone in our office now). Most of our parents were hooked to this show; we grew up watching it and as we got older, we understood all the dirty jokes and loved it even more. Than being said, the show should have been canceled with the release of the movie. Ever since, the show’s quality, material, and almost everything about it has been on the decline, to the point of it being a disgrace to watch. Even the voice actors want the show canceled! Fox, don’t make us hate our favourite family, please!

Once Upon a Time (Since 2011, 5 Seasons)

This show started off extremely strong; they even made a spin-off series, and everyone got hooked (no pun intended). It’s a show about fairytale characters having cat-fights together; how can we not love it? Ugh…apparently we can hate it!! Starting season 2, the show went completely off the actual stories to the point of it becoming confusing, and actually made us hate the true fairytales. Please give this show a happy ending, and cancel it!

Grey’s Anatomy (Since 2005, 12 Seasons)

Oh dear lord, where do I begin? This show is the definition of a train wreck! Everyone’s favourite “romantic medical drama” turned into a “WHY AM I WATCHING THIS drama.” They’re killing off characters for no dramatic reasons (we all know it’s because the actors hate the show and decided to run for their lives before their contracts gets renewed); it’s giving us an overall feeling of a cheap soap opera!

2 Broke Girls (Since 2011, 5 Seasons)

Yes, we get it. Kat Dennings is witty, and that other girl is playing a stereotypical blonde girl alongside borderline racist European and Asian characters. We get it! It was funny for the first season; we tried to finish the second season, but it’s really time to cancel this show. The jokes aren’t funny anymore, and we’re seeing zero character development. We’re just losing IQ points watching it.

Community (Since 2009, 6 Seasons)

Community is one of the funniest, and most diverse shows out there. The characters were all lovable, relatable, and apparently aren’t on the show anymore. With Pierce, one of the biggest characters, leaving, the show’s starting to go downhill. The show was expected to get canceled after Troy, fan favourite, left. It was in fact canceled on NBC, but Yahoo! decided to buy it and keep it going. Why? We’ll never know!

The Big Bang Theory (Since 2007, 9 Seasons)

This show is my personal all time favourite, HOWEVER, the show is becoming a joke, a BAD one too! The early seasons had a very basic plot with funny situations and episode stories. Now, it went from being a sit-com to an awkward drama. I mean, let’s be real. Does anyone really care if Penny and Leonard get married, or even kill each other? No! Either go back to having no main story and give us a few giggles, or cancel it already! And seriously, why does Sheldon have feelings now? Ugh…
