There was nothing as exhilarating as school announcing an upcoming field trip out of the blue, triggering instant feelings of excitement. We would start planning the night before what snacks we’ll get, how much money we’ll have for candy and accessories, who we’ll sit next to on the bus (and which group gets the entire backseat to itself), and the first thing we’ll do as soon as we get there.
It wasn’t just about having a blast with our friends, but each trip carried its own unique energy. The electrifying rides at Geroland and Dream Park meant spending a whole day of endless joy and fun, and so did Fagnoon with its messy but energizing mud fights that made us laugh non-stop until sunset. Even if we were used to going to the movies with our families, there was something thrilling about going to the cinema when we should be spending our day in the classroom.
