Recently, Women have succeeded in changing our perspective about motorcycle and scooter riding. They proved that it can be an activity for both genders, even in Egypt. They broke the rules to change the routine. However, such a bold move has consequences; because as we know, Egyptians can NEVER keep their comments to themselves. So here are some of the comments they get in the street:

“Ya wad ya bet!”

Seriously? Are you doubting her genes? What do you expect her to do when she hears such a comment while riding? I bet she couldn’t hold the laughter

“Mom, is it really a girl? Wala 3amo 3amel nafso tante?”

M

Kids still aren’t used to seeing girls riding. From day one and they have been convinced that it’s a “manly thing”. So what’s going on? Is the world turning upside down? Sorry for confusing u little boy; next time you won’t be that shocked.

“Awii el wa7sh, 3assal walahi!”

I

Again, WHAT?? So you consider this a “mo3aksa”? Sorry to disappoint you but it will never work out.

“3aliki men da b eh yabenty, malha el 3arabeya?”

R

This comment is usually given by an old person. Sorry grandma/grandpa, nothing’s wrong with a car, but I have the right to do what I want; keep moving.

“Law samahty howa enty begad bent? Asdii howa bgd enty bent?”

A

Hmm, what should you do when someone stops you to ask you that? Well, if my scooter is making you blind from seeing my hair, body and facial features, then, no I’m not a girl, just a guy in disguise. And no need to apologize, I am not offended, like AT ALL.

Good luck girls, you need it!
